Story

This August I am attempting to swim 11 long miles in a very deep, very cold lake! The world recently lost two wonderful people to Bowel Cancer - my dear friends Sam Hughes and Nicky Berry. I have decided to swim in their memory and try to raise some money for Bowel Cancer UK, a charity dedicated to providing support and funding research to stop people people dying from this disease. Lake Windermere is the largest natural lake in England, located in the foothills of the Lake District. It measures 11 miles (or 17.7Km) in length, the equivalent of over 700 lengths of a 25 meter pool. It is 67 meters deep with a width of approximately one mile and is so large that it has a slight but discernible tide.
